Philip is accredited as a mediator by the UK Civil Mediation Council.  He is a solicitor by profession and runs his own firm in Essex.  Philip qualified as a solicitor in 1995 and has been in business on his own account since 1997.


In his practice as a solicitor, Philip deals with a wide range of contentious work including commercial disputes, personal injury, disputed wills and inheritance disputes, landlord and tenant law and matrimonial law.  Philip is a member of Resolution (a family lawyers’ association) and of The Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists.  In his role as solicitor, Philip has represented clients at mediations and through the Court process in all manner of disputes.


Philip’s experience as a High Street solicitor and in running a business gives him a rounded experience which he has found serves him well as a mediator.



James Tumbridge MCIArb.

James was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 2001.  In addition to general commercial litigation; ADR and specifically mediation has formed a key part of his practice since that time.  James gained his ADR experience in both North America and the UK which gives him a unique understanding of different styles and techniques.


James' legal practice and working for a Member of Parliament has given him experience of negotiating and mediating in both a business and people focused environments. James has worked on all manner of disputes from matrimonial and real property to commercial transactions and intellectual property.  These have ranged from disputes before small claims courts of Ontario and England to the House of Lords and the Canadian Supreme Court.


James is an accredited mediator with the UK Intellectual Property Office, IDRS (Chartered Institute of Arbitration), ADR Group and WIPO.  His professional memberships include: AIPPI, who gave him their Young Lawyer Award for 2007; INTA, with whom he is an ADR committee member and responsible for the European Mediation Help Line for IP professionals, CIPA, ITMA, IBA, CLA and TIPLO.

 

Philip Giles
